Mary Gaines

I am a self taught artist, I live in one of the most gorgeous areas of the country. I live in the Pacific Northwest, on scenic Whidbey Island, Washington. I have lived here for over 25 years and what an inspiration it is to get to experience each and every day. Our Island is 50 miles long and everywhere you drive to you get to see the ocean, you see eagles flying overhead or deer and other animals. I am blessed to live in this beautiful area of the country. My husband is also a photographer and we both really enjoy traveling in our RV. We travel every chance we get to other areas of the Pacific Northwest capturing all the we can of the beauty God has given us to enjoy. When the desire came to me to paint it was in acrylic and oils, but then I took a leap of faith and tried watercolors. I love them now because of how the colors just seem to do their own thing on the paper. With each painting I get bolder and better, and when I complete It, it is like a peace that comes over me in my spirit. I still have such a long way to go, but I am truly going to enjoy the journey. I plan to give back to the less fortunate with some of my proceeds from the sale of my artwork, it is the least I can do to say thank you to God my Creator.
